2026 FIFA World Cup United Bid identity

In summer 2017, as part of United Bid of Mexico, USA and Canada for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, I was approached by Canada Soccer’s General Secretary to create a logo that would represent the bid. My work was submitted to the United Bid Committee Board of Directors along side other logos from the United States Soccer Federation and Mexican Football Federation. The identity I created was chosen.

This was one of my last projects as Creative Manager for Canada Soccer before I left the organisation later that year. While I don’t consider this my best design work, it is definitely the most prestigious. Big thanks to Peter Montopoli for his confidence in my work and for the opportunity. The logo will live until a host is chosen by FIFA later this year. Good luck to the United Bid Committee and hopefully we will get that world class event in North America (CONCACAF).

A Time-lapse Experiment

There are many beautiful and inspiring Time-lapse videos on the web. Because of my interest in every visual art form, I decided to try and make one myself as an experiment. Since I don’t own a DSLR camera, the shots don’t look as professional as I liked. The intervals (30s) in between the shots was a bit too long and made the final video fast and a bit choppy. Nonetheless, the combination of the animated photography with the music by Chris Blackwell offers quite a view of by bedroom window.

School project S6 – Aids initiative poster

This poster project was targeting another social awareness subject: Aids. The objective was to promote the Federal government initiative to fight against HIV / AIDS in Canada. This initiative provides funding for different prevention and support programs.

The first poster symbolizes all the support given by the population and AIDS programs. A group of red ribbons forming a balloon supports the AIDS victims. The hand-written words “Together we can support AIDS victims” ties with the poster’s visuals.

This poster is one of a series of three. Two hands holding in the shape of a heart with a mosaic of symbols in the background representing heterosexual and gay couples. The hand-written word “Together we can fight the prejudice of AIDS” ties again with the support given by the different AIDS programs and the population.

This poster was not submitted because it didn’t tie well with the government initiative. Nevertheless, I posted it because I liked the idea.

Pop Life Exhibition poster II

Today opens the Pop Life : Art in a Material World Exhibition at the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa. As mentioned in a previous post, here is my second FAKE exhibition poster. It is inspired by the  style of pop artist Roy Lichtenstein. The subject of this piece is Jeff Koons silver rabbit, one of the main attraction of this exhibit. It was done entirely with photoshop.

Pop Life Exhibition Poster

From June 11th to September 19th 2010, the National Gallery of Canada (NGC) in Ottawa is hosting the Pop Life : Art in a Material World Exhibition. It explores the complex relationship between contemporary art, marketing and the mass media. Beginning with the late work of American Pop artist Andy Warhol (1928-1987), the exhibition proposes a re-reading of his legacy and explores how some of today’s high-profile media-savvy artists have followed his lead, embracing celebrity and commerce as the foundation of their work.

Following this theme, I designed a fake exhibition poster. I used the architecture of the NGC glass tower as an inspiration for this piece. I’m working on a second poster that hopefully will be completed before the exhibition begins. Stay tuned.
